Catherine Mwai is the Project Manager at the SASH Lab, where she oversees multiple research and intervention projects. At the Lab, she has contributed to the developing, adapting and implementing of health curricula, conducted CBPR, and worked on academic publications.
Prior to joining the SASH Lab, Catherine led research to understand cancer care access in Somalia, focusing on women’s reproductive health, policy, workforce development, and international relations with the Yale School of Public Health. Before this, she was a Health Teacher on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation, where she developed the district’s elementary school health curriculum in collaboration with local, Tribal, and national organizations, emphasizing culturally responsive and inclusive practices. Earlier in her career, she worked in clinical patient education, patient- and family-centered care, and digital health research at the University of Michigan.
Catherine was a national recipient of the A.C.T.I.O.N. (Advocacy on Campuses that Impacts Our Nation) award from the American Public Health Association while a graduate student. She holds an M.P.H. from the Yale School of Public Health and certificates in Law and Sustainable Development Goals from the University of Cambridge.
